The SL 65 AMG Black Series

The long-awaited SL 65 AMG Black Series is due for release in late 2008. This latest addition to the celebrated AMG stable is the culmination of a long heritage of hand-finished, lovingly crafted prestige vehicles built with racing performance in mind. Like previous Black Series incarnations of the SLK-Class and CLK-Class, the SL 65 AMG Black Series brings together avantgarde styling with blisteringly powerful engine design.

Nearly every design aspect of the SL 65 Black Series has been re-imagined, borrowing only doors and wing-mirrors from the SL 65 AMG from which it takes its name. Carbon fibre construction creates an exceptionally lean and lightweight chassis. The broad bodystyling gives a solid, aggressive stance, while striking air vents in the bonnet and behind the wheel housing provide aeration for the AMG high-performance brake system and mighty V12 bi-turbo engine.

The 6-litre engine achieves an acceleration of 0-60 mph in just 3.9 seconds, while generating over 1200 Nm of torque (electronically limited to 1000 Nm) and commanding 670 hp. Allied to the light-weight adjustable sports suspension and Speedshift automatic 5-speed transmission, it amounts to a powerhouse of phenomenal proportions.

Inside, interior appointments of Black nappa leather, Alcantara and carbon fibre make up a cabin designed with the functional ergonomics of a racing car, while retaining the subtle ambience of Mercedes-Benz luxury.
